Helping construction teams and organisations create healthier cultures, stronger resilience, and safer conversations around mental wellbeing.

Robert Muldoon

Lived Experience

Robert Muldoon began his career in construction more than two decades ago as an apprentice bricklayer, working his way through the industry to become a Project Manager delivering major projects across the UK. His experience spans high-profile developments including ITV Studios, Manchester City’s training ground, MOD projects, student accommodation, schools, and prisons.

Alongside managing Tier One contracts, Rob also built and ran his own successful brickwork company, growing the business from a one-man operation into a team of 16. While professionally successful, the pressures of leadership, responsibility, and constantly pushing forward began to take a serious toll on his mental wellbeing.

In 2018, Rob experienced a mental breakdown after years of neglecting his own mental health — driven by the belief that “things like this don’t happen to people like me.”

That experience became a turning point.

Recognising the lack of open conversation around mental health within construction, Rob launched The MYH Podcast in 2020 to create a safe and honest platform where people across the industry could share their experiences openly. What began as a personal challenge — learning to talk about his own struggles — has since become a powerful movement helping others realise they are not alone.

Professional

Impact

Today, Rob works across the construction and infrastructure sectors raising awareness around mental wellbeing, resilience, and behavioural change within high-pressure working environments.

Over the past three years, he has spoken to more than 30,000 construction workers across the UK, delivering honest, relatable, and impactful sessions that break down stigma and encourage people to prioritise their mental health before reaching crisis point.

His delivery style combines lived experience, humour, relatability, and practical reflection — allowing him to connect authentically with frontline teams, leaders, and operational environments where conversations around mental wellbeing have traditionally been difficult.

Rob is also an Ambassador for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity and a member of the Make It Visible team, continuing his commitment to improving wellbeing and support across the industry.
